French Flair and Faux

Parisian born Christine Barme Meyers started her artistic career at age 14, with china ink paintings on silk, and miniature paintings. She then moved to watercolor and oil paintings to capture wildlife and landscapes. Her interest in Asian art brought her to Asian studies and Japan. She later graduated from Law School, yet kept painting on ceramics, porcelain and walls. Her career twisted from a full fledged banking lawyer to a full time professional muralist, when she settled in the United States. She alternated paintings on canvas and on walls as support to her creativity. She has exhibited twice at the Alliance Francaise of Washington DC. She is still dividing her time between wall panoramic paintings or “trompe l’oeil”, and smaller size canvas paintings that are better suited for her various sources of inspiration.

"I started painting very young, bursting of admiration for the world in front of my eyes, to reveal it through a different angle or accentuation. Then I developed a passion for the history of Art.

I seek to catch the spirit of life, guided by light and perspective, geometry and contrast of colors. I favor quiet and peaceful subjects, and humor. In my representations, I undertake to glorify the Creation as perfection in its most humble beauty or horror; every deeply moored feeling or conviction that I have, always find an exhaust in its sole depiction."
